The network broadcasts live daily from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Nasdaq, the Flatiron Building in New York City, and the White House lawn and briefing room in Washington, D.C., covering new products, technologies, and services.
Cheddar targets millennials by streaming one to two hours of live content daily from the NYSE trading floor, streaming live audio on iHeartRadio, and distributing videos on platforms like Amazon Prime, the Cheddar app, Facebook Live, Sling TV, Pluto TV, Haystack News, and YouTube. It is also available in Canada via RiverTV channel 25.
In August 2017, Cheddar received 148 million views across all its platforms. On Facebook, 60% of Cheddar’s viewers are under the age of 35. The daily live shows have been described as a “quasi-CNBC for millennials.”
The focuses on stocks and technology and is ad-free, with revenue coming from carriage agreements with streaming services. Advertising includes program underwriting and semi-weekly brand integration, with brand integration advertising costing $100,000 per year.
Cheddar offers two feeds: a paid version and a free version. The paid feed broadcasts eight hours of programming daily, six of them live, and is available via Amazon Prime, Sling TV, YouTube TV, and the Cheddar app. The free feed broadcasts three hours of new content daily, with archived content available through Facebook and over the air via affiliated stations. As of April 2017, the channel had 100,000 viewers.
On April 30, 2019, agreed to be bought by the cable company Altice USA for $200 million in cash. On December 28, 2023, Altice USA sold Cheddar to the media company Archetype for an undisclosed amount.
